Sports Art & Artifacts Overview |

|
The LA84 Foundation of Los Angeles owns a sizable collection of sports art and artifacts. The art collection consists primarily of works on paper, lithographs, offset prints, and several paintings and pieces of sculpture. Much of the collection is comprised of Olympic Games, International Olympic Committee, and Pan American Games posters. The collection of sports artifacts and memorabilia covers a wide range of sports. Football, basketball, baseball, boxing, auto racing and yachting are among the many sports represented. The Foundation also has a large Olympic Games memorabilia collection dating from 1896, the year of the first modern Olympic Games. Many objects come from the Los Angeles Olympic Games of 1932 and 1984. The Foundation produces exhibits that are displayed in the library. The Foundation lends pieces to enhance other museum exhibitions. We also develop traveling exhibits on Olympic Games and other sport topics, independently and in conjunction with other institutions. Finally, the Art and Artifacts Collection enables us to publish catalogs and produce Web-based exhibitions. |
